Pioneer Cooking 101

This series of classes will concentrate on cooking methods used before 1860.

1. Basic fire building and primitive methods

2. Campfire and open hearth cooking using cast iron

3. Cooking and baking on an 1850 kitchen range.

Each of the 3 hour sessions begin at 5PM and will concentrate on methods and foods used by our ancestors.

These classes will be conducted by the volunteer staff of Historic Point Basse with assistance from others who have expertise in a specific area.

Cost: $5.00 per night for the first three classes to cover the materials used and a commitment of 15 hours of volunteer time at Historic Point Basse
The fourth class, everyone brings their own ingredients and cooks for everyone.
